There are so many things to say this week I hardly know where to start. I think I will begin with last week – did you notice that I never posted a blog last week? Well, whether you did or you didn’t I’ll tell you why. I am a competitive equestrian and last week was one of my biggest shows of the year. I look forward to it all year long and it has always meant a lot to me. While we have won the big awards several times, this year was a bit different. Mid-competition, I got into an accident. It was my fault, and fortunately no one was seriously injured. But I was not able to get through the night alone. My team and my friends leapt into action. When I was frantic, they handled what needed to be done for my horse and for me. Had I been doing everything myself, it would have been a very different story. While I am ‘the boss’, I was not and could not be that night. Had I not built a fantastic team and developed friendships with the people around me, things would not have gone so smoothly.
I apply this not just with my horses, but with my business as well. By nurturing relationships with our partners, suppliers, and on location experts all around the world – we at Louisa White are able to give you the service and once-in-a-lifetime experiences that would never be possible if I did this all by myself. This week I have been at the gorgeous Waldorf Astoria Boca Raton doing just that – nurturing relationships. I am attending one of our biggest industry conferences and the seminars are truly first class. I just spent hours meeting with our best partners and I know that we will be able to offer bigger and better experiences to you, our clients, as a result. This means that even though we are always a call or a text away - no matter where you are or what you are doing – we will have someone in your location to provide assistance as well as the access to the extraordinary that you need and want. This is what sets us apart from our competition. We are always seeking new and innovative ways to enhance your journeys. By going the extra mile, you can rest assured that you are always in good hands.
Speaking of the importance of those around you, please remember that no man is an island. We all need each other no matter what we are doing. Anthony Bourdain is and was an inspiration to millions, including myself. His infectious passion for exploring new places and bringing their culture and food to millions of viewers made it easy to think he was happy. And I am sure he was. But today's news was heartbreaking. We can not go through this life alone. Please remember to nurture your own relationships. You never know who will need you.
“If I am an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get off the couch, move.”
– Anthony Bourdain.
Rest in Peace, Chef
